We bring our management, legal, security and diplomatic expertise to enrich the economic and political content of security and peace. We advise governments and international organizations on micro-disarmament, demobilization and conflict transformation. We implement practical projects for weapon collection, destruction and management; security sector reform, democratic governance and building civil society; sustainable economic development, and sensitive cultural analysis. We have great experience in training, planning and management consultancy work, participative evaluation and monitoring methods.

EPES Mandala Training programme
Expertise in Politics, Economics and Security is an experienced, multi-national team working for disarmament, peace and development. Our African roots go back to the 1991 democratic revolution in Mali and armed conflict in the Sahara. In 1996 we lit our first Flame of Peace in Timbuktu, destroying rebel and army surplus small arms and light weapons (SALW). We have worked on peace building in countries including Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Bangladesh and in the Balkans, evolving a conflict transformation methodology with a non-military approach to disarmament, peace and development that can be applied in many war torn societies.
Mandala is the Sanskrit word for a meditative circle. Used especially for the Tantric and Buddhist prayer circle, Mandala represents the universe and harmony between people. A circle encourages creativity, which is better for peace builders working in many cultures than the unrelenting linear forms of Western thought and legal analysis. Our multi-national teams provide culturally sensitive understanding and appropriate solutions for complex political and economic problems.
